Suggested Pay Scale

The following is a list of suggested pay rates for different settings where life models are employed.

COVID-19 MEASURES

​

Employers/tutors/hosts are responsible for ensuring COVID-secure workplaces whilst these precautions remain in force and particularly:

​

• Social distancing, ventilation and face coverings for tutors and attendees, model to be allowed to wear mask if desired.

• Cleaning and disinfection of any supplied cloths, mats, covers and props.

1.        Commercial drawing club up to 20 attendees       £20/h
2.        Commercial drawing club up to 30 attendees       £25/h
3.        Commercial drawing club over 30 attendees        £30/h
4.        Online class                                                            £30/h + share of ticket sales from 25 - 50%*
5.        Hybrid class (in life and online at same time)        £30/h + share of ticket sales from 25 - 50%*
6.        Large institution (in life)                                          from £20/h
7.        Small atelier (in life)                                                from £20/h
8.        Professional artist (in life)                                       from £30/h + pledge on sale of work**
9.        Private artist tutoring one-to-one (in life)                from £40/h
10.      Hen/stag/celebration event (in life)                        from £60/h
11.      Corporate event (in life)                                         from £100 for the event
12.      Reference photos (non professional)                     from £5/each, more for nude

*applicable where ticket sales are open to the public

**artists who routinely sell work might consider the Model Support Pledge whereby a percentage of the sale price is gifted to the model in addition to their fee. The Pledge is open to any level of artist who chooses to sell their work for profit.

ADD-ONS 

13.        Preparation time: same hourly rate of the session
14.        Breaks: same hourly rate of the session
15.        Rehearsal or costume fitting time: same hourly rate of the session
16.        Last-minute call +£10
17.        Themed/costumed/makeup +£20
18.        Travel expenses: reimbursed when travelling outside of area, as agreed between model and host. This applies to travel               between cities, counties, countries etc (in the case of London when round-trip journey time exceeds 100 minutes).
19.        Cancellation fee: full amount 24 hrs notice or less, half within 48 hrs
20.        Job offer/confirmation via email or instant messaging/text to include tutor name, type of class, fee, full address,                             particular requirements, payment method etc.
21.        Contracts for special events, substantial block bookings and photoshoots.
22.        Payment method in cash (with receipt) or via bank/electronic transfer on the day or within 28 days via invoice or                           timesheet.
23.        Venue arrangement: temperature, ventilation, signage, and coverings on doors and windows where necessary, and is                 host's responsibility.
24.        Changing area (room, screen) should be private, clean and safe
25.        Maximum posing time before a rest is set by the model who can ask for an alarm at 20 minutes (some models may                       request more or less time) with 3 - 5 minute rest or longer if necessary.
26.        Tipping the model encouraged in all settings.
