Life Model Pay Is A Feminist Issue

Most professional life models are women.

Life modelling is sessional, ad hoc and largely part time, a pattern of work which is attributed to women more than men.

More women than men have caring duties which often necessitates part time or 'gig' working.

Part time or 'gig' workers have little or no pension provision; lesser paid roles in lower-paying industries will always result in smaller pension pots.

Employers are rolling out auto-enrolment pension schemes but life models will not qualify because they will almost always never work enough hours with one employer.

Women tend to live longer than men and so it is of particular importance that they perform financial self-care and forward planning.
